Advisory Services is a fee-based money management firm that works directly for its clients.  Our earnings depend on your success, which defines the mission of our company.  Performance is in our name because it should be the most important factor when choosing anyone to manage your assets.  The only thing you can spend at the end of the day are the assets in your portfolio and they are the result of performance.  You can’t spend the prestige displayed in granite buildings, walnut conference rooms of comforting commercials; you can only spend what’s in your portfolio.  How do you know how well your portfolio is doing unless there’s a benchmark with which to compare it?  We go above and beyond anyone we know of to display our performance, and its associated risk statistics, against the benchmark of the Standard & Poors 500 index.  We compute and report the risk in your portfolio ever six months so that you understand the critical relationship between risk and reward. 

Total Asset Performance, Inc., combines art and science in making investment decisions.  The art is the almost 20 years of experience David uses when deciphering the ever-more-confusing world market and economic data.  The science comes in when choosing a fund manager based upon their empirical performance data.  These combine to create portfolios that usually gain more return than the risk they take; as evidenced from the regular reports we generate.  To guide our portfolio construction and assess our own performance we use the most refined, best proven quantitative methodology known as Modern Portfolio Theory (MPT).  (link to MPT) MPT distills performance to statistics than can be graphed to show exactly how much return is generated from exactly how much risk.  Knowing this is the key to understanding the performance/skill of your investment manager.  We generate MPT statistics each six months and compare them head-to-head with our benchmark, the S&P 500.  Client assets in managed accounts are held in custody by the registered broker/dealer.  Our preferred provider of custody service is FISERV Inc., located in Denver, Colorado.
